Natural Horsemanship

May 6th, 2010

I confess that I’m a tad nervous around any animal big enough to crush me just by not paying attention. Nonetheless, I found it pretty cool that my friends, Kevin and Ginny have learned how to respectfully enjoy their horses on their horses’ own terms. I don’t know if it is exactly horse whispering, but watching the way they treat their horse, Tenor, is impressive. It’s almost as if they don’t train the horse, but they merely learn each others’ languages.

Let me also thank them for their great hospitality in Florida, the way they treated my son, Sam and ask God’s blessings on their family.

Natural Horsemanship Program for Children with Autism

April 22nd, 2010

Equestrian Bridges at Twin Springs is a nonprofit program for children with autism using natural horsemanship skills.
Shanna Meyers, program director explains how the horses have a bridge to communicating with the children.
Equestrian Bridges HELPS CHILDREN USING EQUINE THERAPY, Twin Springs is
a BOARDING AND RIDING FACILITY. We help each other, and lean on each other.
With out one another the other would not exist. Equestrian Bridges is a
(pending) Non Profit program, we completely depend on Donations and
Fund-raising to survive, right now while the economy is very scary we need
everyone’s support more than ever!!! Regardless of hard times though we are
pushing forward and helping families and children and basking in the JOY of
horses. . That is our reward!!!!

My vow to myself and to this organization is to grow the facility, help
as many children as possible, and be smart in fund-raising. I can only do
so much, so I am leaning on my great volunteers like yourself to help me.
With out you we would not have Equestrian Bridges!

Our circumstance:

We have no money, WE NEED TO RAISE MONEY!! Heating the facility alone to
have our Tuesday Night Social Skills Group for children with Autism is a
fortune, also the cost to care for our precious Therapy Mini’s is not
cheap!!

My goal is to get to therapeutic riding for the kids, and we will need to
purchase riding helmets.

This is our FIRST year starting out as a very NEW PENDING NON PROFIT, we
are leaning on NW AR for support!

**Our mission is to help Children using Equine Therapy. Equestrian
Bridges is not a English thing, a Western Thing, a Dressage thing, a
Hunting/Jumping thing, a rich or poor thing, a Parelli thing, a miniature
horse thing, an Arabian thing, and I could go on and on.

WHAT WE ARE is people coming together that LOVE HORSES and want to HELP
CHILDREN using the horses natural MAGIC!!! Simple as that.

So I hope that helps any one that has questions and makes it more clear
for you to express our goals and needs to others!! The more you talk to
others about us and our program the more we will grow:)

Thank you all for your support and prayers!
Please call me if you are interested in helping in any of the upcoming
events.

Combo (re: Monty Robert’s Way / Parelli’s Way) Natural Horsemanship Training Technique

April 8th, 2010

Visit DeafHorse.com….

I am applying and combining both Monty Roberts’ and Parelli’s natural horsemanship training techniques. I learned Parelli techniques through Jonathan Field (also is one of top Canadian horse trainers). This training location was taking place in Carmel Valley, California.

Please note that Sunny has the smoothest gait and well-balanced movement. He is Arabian breed. Also, please note that I never touched this horse with a stick at all, which is similar to “non-violence” training technique that Monty Roberts used.

As for those people who aren’t familiar with the horse training program like this one, I am attempting to establish the ground work by turning right, left, backward, and forward, which is very important to use when riding this horse for a long run. Otherwise, you cannot control the horse when riding, you know! =)
