Camp Cadence -Beginner & Intermidiate Camps-

At Cadence Equestrian Center we host horse day camps throughout the year as well as week-long summer horse camps.
These camps are geared for both beginner and intermediate riders.
Many of our youth riders who now own their own horses and ponies started out at Camp Cadence! Our camps are an excellent introduction into the world of horses & ponies and are also wonderful supplements to riding instruction.

Beginner students learn basic horsemanship, safety and grooming and farm chores. Our camps also include fun horsey arts & crafts, fishing and of course lots of riding – including daily horse-back-riding instruction & games on horse-back. Our intermediate students learn more advanced skills in horsemanship & many of the important lessons, skills and responsibilities, that are required to own a horse or pony.
Your child will love the camaraderie of spending time at the ranch learning all sorts of fun & exciting things about horses!

Beginner Horseback Riding Lesson: Using Poles to Help a Rider Learn How to Post

This is Hannah’s first lesson on Marley. She has had about 5 riding lessons in total. Hannah is 6 years old and riding very well for her age and level of experience. We are working on bringing her lower leg under her so she doesn’t have so much of a “chair seat.” Chair seat means that the rider has her legs out in front of her and is using the stirrups to push herself back in her saddle, up against the cantle. Riders usually assume a chair seat position because they don’t want to commit to being up over the horse’s motion – they are afraid of falling forward over the neck. For posting the trot, the riders legs should be in alignment with her hips, so that if the horse were to disappear out from underneath her, she would land on her feet. The posture is a lot like the athletic stance once assumes for tennis.

Why Take Riding Lessons?

At Cadence Equestrian Center we believe that riding and caring for horses teaches life-long lessons of responsibility, discipline and compassion, and also improves balance, flexibility and overall physical fitness.

Our program provides year-round professional riding instruction and is geared for all types of students — not only do we welcome those seeking recreational horse-back-riding instruction, but we also provide the facility and instructors for those with goals of competitive showing and winning State, National and World Championships.

We specialize in Hunt Seat and Hunter/Jumper riding instruction for children age 5 & up as well as adults. Our large indoor arena provides for year-round riding in a comfortable environment. We provide safe school-master horses & ponies and well-maintained tack for all of our lessons.
