I know many 15 year old that are better than me. Age doesn’t make anyone better or more knowledgeable.

Ok, well there you go. I’ve been looking after and riding horses for nearly 10 years longer than you have been ALIVE!
I think everyone starts on the ground – you can’t expect to just get on it’s back but there are much better ways of training an animal!

well u can do more …
well u can do more than just riding just to injoy there comany. everything u do on the ground with them goes 2 the saddle and makes it soooo much easyer …… all there doing is decencitizing there horses im 16 and do natural horsemanship and get PAYED to trian other peoples horses and i ALWAYS start on the ground

I have plenty of fun with horses – but it usually involves getting on their backs and mutually enjoying a ride rather than me making them stand there bored whilst I make myself look stupid!
and FYI, ANY horse or pony can get spooked and hurt you, not just the ‘dangerous’ ones.

…..a horse is a horse, treat it like one and it will have much more respect for you. Dancing around it will just make it want to hurt you!

When the horse goes …
When the horse goes to bite, the person should have done something like wiggle their leg or jump up and down. My horse used to swing his head at me when I was jumping at his side or about to get on because he didn’t like me getting on. I would jump until he looked forward calmly then stop and repeat. If he came with lips or teeth, I’d lift my knee or jump close to his head to get in his way. Because it was not a severe biting, this was safe for me to do. Now, Blu is still and calm when I get on.

desensitize the horse a little to different things, many horse freak if you do something to them other than get on and ride,so just giving the horse difference things to think about.
And of course a little fun as well.
