Learn this fun (funny?) technique that’s used in the Christmas tune “Sleigh Ride.”

you bet. the best …
you bet. the best place is to go to Monette’s web site: monette (then the dot, then “net”–utube won’t let u post web site names.)
They’re quite expensive, but of course the mouthpieces are cheaper (but still way more expensive than anything else out there), and are some of the best mouthpieces available.
Good luck!

haha! That’s great. Thanks for the shout-out for “livery stable blues,” an important trumpet recording. As to the Beauty/Ed debate, I’d have to go with Quick-Draw McGraw, the Hannah-Barberra cartoon horse.

A funny effect but …
A funny effect but I’ve only heard it in two recordings. Boston Pops / Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” as noted and the first jazz record, “Livery Stable Blues”. My favorite horse? It’s a toss up between Black Beauty and Mr.Ed.

whoa! Sorry about …
whoa! Sorry about the totally late reply. This happens because w/ the valves halfway down, the airflow is altered and the notes don’t “lock in” where they’re supposed to because the air is no longer following through a tube of the same diameter. Hope this helps. Sorry for the lateness…. : – )
