Okay,
If you have this horse that needs a sedetive to be ridden, and you are only learning, I would recommend that you get someone else to re-work this horse (an experienced trainer) as it is not fair riding a horse that is under sedation!! If you choose this way, find a trainer that doesnt use force as a method of training! You-re horse will suffer.
Also, as you are a learner and get nervous, find a good stables/instructor where you can learn on a good, sturdy horse that you can get you're confidence on.
Doing this will be far better for you and you're horse.
References :
groundwork. do lots of it, and when you have established respect, she is more confident, and you both trust each other, then you can ride. don't rush the whole riding thing, as it's not all about riding. it definatley sounds like neither of you are ready to ride. i recomend natural horsemanship, but use any technique that benefits you and your horse. good luck!
References :
1) if you know that she gets spooky without selenium, it wouldn't be smart to just push her through this and get her or you hurt. Get the selenium first then see what you have once she's got it in her system

2) get some training lessons from a good trainer. your horse is already scared and you being nervous and scared isn't going to help her, only will make things worse and her or you can get hurt.

Guess you have to ask yourself if it's worth getting hurt over. Get the selenium then get some training from a trainer. That's your best bet.

Trying to push this on a slope with a horse that's got a deficiency with a person who gets scared,....is asking for trouble. You wouldn't be helping her and you wouldn't be helping your confidence.

What's your hurry? Do things right.
References :
Send her to a reputable trainer not to far from home. Let the trainer train the horse, then you can go ride her there under better conditions
References :
50 years of riding and training both horses and riders.

When your horse gets nervous, just naturally it will make you uneasy too. Your horse can sense your uneasiness. This will make the horse even more scared.
I would suggest getting the selenium supplement as soon as possible.
If that doesn't cure anything, though I'm sure it will, lunge her in a small round pen to get her energy out. Lunge her haltered and then tacked. This will take alot of her energy out of her system.
If your paddock is like a regular pasture or something, then load the horse up in a trailer and haul her to a public riding arena or someplace where it is enclosed and smaller.
Hope this helps.
References :
If she is spooky than bucking is likely her reaction to "fight off the predator". If this is the case then you need trot 15m circles a few times and given she is on the bit and using her hind end this will burn up a lot of her energy and get her more focused on you. Also lateral work will help too.
References :
SAMD

Wait, so let me get this straight. You don't know how to ride, and you bought a horse, and you failed to get the supplement (selenium) that she needs!? WOW! You sound like a genius. GET HER SELENIUM!!!!! Trust me! My cousin had a pony and he would buck and bite and run away and spook all the time. THey got the vet out there and he had a selenium deficiency. They started giving it to him and he was cured.
References :
All you really can do is show her that theres nothing to fear. When she gets scared you get scared, then that makes her fear even more, walk her up to things you'd normally not see on a trail or wave some plastic bags around, put some pebble s in a plastic bottle and rattle it.

My STB spooks pretty bad but with training and exposure he is much better
