@WiccasKiss No you don’t book it through and hope all goes well. you sack him out untill no noises bother him, then you walk down diferent trails so he learns tha not everything is always the same like in an arena. this also makes him surefooted. then you can start booking it through new trails. at that point the horse knows to watch where he is going how things differ with the weight of a rider and that he can trust the rider.

They can canter down hills fine, probably best to make sure they are fit/strong enough to carry a person down hill first though.

great rider, but you probably shouldn’t ride a horse that hard everyday. nice job over the log, its nice to get on a western horse that will still jump. So is this how you break a horse to trails, just book it through and hope all goes well?
