This 8 year old well trained mule cannot be caught unless he is bribed with a bucket of grain. Dr. Miller demonstrates how, using body language and timing, he extinguishes this behavior and in only 4 minutes, teaching him to come when called. Purchase DVD http://www.robertmmiller.com/viunho.html

so, a little poll for all y’all.
did you learn to ride on horses or ponies?!
i learned to ride on horses, since i was too tall and chubby when i started riding! lol. After a while i slimmed down and got better so i started schooling ponies…
but what about all of you?
Ponies
(I was 4!)
I grew up with M&Ms, switched to horses in my late teens when I thought I was the cat’s pyjamas, and quickly went back to hairy ponies when I discovered I wasn’t! I ride both now, but much prefer my ponies.
Why is it that there are many organisations designed to help kids learn riding and horse care. e.g pony club and camp at riding schools. What about older teenagers and adults who want to learn about horses. They can learn to ride but how are they supposed to learn about horse care?
I ask this because i am 16 so i am too old to go to camp(although i would love to) how am i or people in similar situations to learn about horse care? Its almost like if you didnt start at 6 you cant start
i have riding lessons at the moment and i know how to groom and tack up but thats not enough to get a horse
I know how you feel, I felt like I came late to riding and I was only eleven when I started. The options for learning about horses get few and far between once you hit your teens.
The greatest thing for me and the thing that has taught me the most was becoming a working student at the barn and just hanging out with the horses and their owners. If you can ask your trainer if you can work a few days at the barn, even just doing chores, that would be a great way to start.
Just being around the horses and the people more you pick up a lot and get advice and help on things without having to ask.
