Childern’s horse riding in Deiderode. Lessons of life

January 1st, 2012

You can learn horse riding. Much better though is to learn responsibility. In a small German village, the Buddhist horse riding trainer uses the tender Icelandic horses to shows children how to be human.
The film was produced as a part of a project in cultural anthropology “Horse. Culture. Lower Saxony” initialized by the Goettingen University, Germany (2010). It is a student film.

Where can I go to school to learn about and how to ride horses?

December 20th, 2011

This section has shown me that there is a connection between a horse and a rider that cannot be broken until death parts them. The passion they share is important for a long happy life of competition with others who share that bond with their horse. My point is that one day I want to ride a horse rider…oops I mean horse ;)

I’m baaaaack! :)

That one made me crack a smile. Good job, Alex. You should be proud.

can and should i learn to ride horses?

October 17th, 2011

I love horses and i would love to learn how to ride. But i get a little bit nervous for some reason and i don’t know why? I will watch someone riding a horse and say ‘i wish i could do that’ but when i go for lessons sometimes just before and whilst im next to the horse or before im about to mount it my legs and hands start shaking and this is not on all horses for some reason im mostly only confident on grey horses (or white as when they are older and the coat kinda changes)???? it makes no sense. another thing i am 12 years old about 5 foot 4 or 5 foot 6(not really sure somewhere between 5f 4 and 5f 6) and weigh around 8 stone, a beginner in riding so what is what is the min and max height i should ride(eg 13.1hh-15.3hh)??? im thinking i shouldn’t learn to ride, but i would love to learn how to ride, and i even sometimes dream that i am at a stables cleaning my horses bridle! i used to watch a show called the saddle club which i have started watching again on youtube and i would love to own or look after and ride a horse! if you could answer my questions and add your opinions and any additional information i would really appreciate it.

thank you!

well i just got back from riding a few minutes ago and i love horses too! and i started riding when i was 11, my grandma boards horses, and she bred a horse named heston ( my now horse) and i am never nervous riding horses, because once you get up there wow! its so unexplainable the relationship between you and your horse, your best friends, and there is no min-max height for riding, because some kids start out at 3 and some really tall people ride horses too! riding is such a fun sport! and it is so fun to really advance, and you’ll have some off days with your horse, but who dosnt? i was so much like you with the dreams and breyer horses and watching saddle club, and everything! believe me, you should definately try riding horses, and once you get passed your fear, it will be so fun! and believe me its truly rewarding! i just came back from a show last weekend with 14- First Place ribbons and a grand champion trophy! it was so fun! and its really really hard work starting out with buying a horse so i wouldnt suggest it, but try starting out leasing one, or going at a stables and trying out lesson horses, andd don’t be afriad on a lesson horse, they should be really calm, and most have to pass a test, believe me its a lot of work, but at the end of the day when its just you and your horse cantering bareback( which i love to do although it took me 3 years) its the best feeling in the world! – happy riding, maddy (13 years)
