Natural Horsemanship livery yards in Hertfordshire?

June 24th, 2011

Looking for a natural horsemanship livery yard that isn’t crazy expensive- or just a yard with people who do natural horsemanship there, doesn’t have to be all natural horsemanship people :)
She can live in or out, but most of her life has been out 24/7 all year round, thanks :)

I have seen a lady riding in a western style saddle and ‘rope bridle without a bit’ near Gustard Wood (between Wheathampstead and Kimpton). Might be worth putting a note asking this question up in the Herts Horse Feed Shops.. Clarks Equestrian (stevenage), Titmuss (wheathampstead), Widserve (codicote), Lawtons (hitchin), The Barn Shop (royston) there are many more.. google to find more

Opinions on natural horsemanship halters?

June 21st, 2011

^^ Like it says.
I have one and use it pretty frequently. I find it gives me better control of my horse.
Yes, I meant rope halter. My trainer always calls it natural horsemanship halters so I get confused on that.

Their awesome! Its more comfortable on the horse, give you the extra "feel" and connection to the horse through the rope. A good lead rope also helps you out with a rope halter.
The horse feels every little lead rope movement and that is what I love about rope halters.
You just cant get that same feel and connection to the horse with a regular halter…or a stud chain.
Also- people that use stud chains instead of rope halters, it really hurts the horses nose. horses and chains just dont mix..and putting a chain over its very sensitive nose is terrible.

So rope halters, by far the best halter to use.

Anyone any age can ride a horse.AVI

June 20th, 2011

We have had many people through our barn. Some come to learn to ride, others come to reacquaint themselves with riding. Age really doesn’t matter. We have had people through in their 80s and others as young as 3. The most rewarding are the special needs people we have helped. The glow in a child’s eye when they know they are in charge of this large animal is truly special. Seeing others with a new found freedom of mobility and strength really touches the heart, even of us old cowboys. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime. This old cowboy is here to help. My e-mail address is SilenceSpeaksMore@sasktel.net. Thank you kindly
