Passive, persistence in horse training might be Pat Parelli’s motto, but he didn’t show it at the Festival of the Horse. Robert Whitaker’s horse Catwalk didn’t like his bridle being put on, but Pat Parelli tried to force the horse with a rope and twitch in a session that lasted over 2 hours at Stoneleigh Park in the UK. 7 yr old large flashy black tobiano pony, experienced in hunter/jumper, also rides western undersaddle. His smooth gaits and consistent courses make him shine in the hunter ring. His gaits are very comfortable for someone to learn to ride on. Easy going, intelligent, well broke on the flat and over jumps. Barefoot and sound. Very honest, has jumped 2′6″ courses and 3′3″ single spreads, but could easily do more. Auto lead changes. Excellent at shows and has never once had a health problem. Great for an intermediate child or small adult. Must sell/lease ASAP because owner is going to university.

Hey I am 14 and I have always LOVED horses. But I never really wanted to learn when I was little But now that I have turned 14 i really want to learn to ride. But am I to old to ride

Don’t worry.
I know plenty of 4 to 29 year olds who ride and are learning.
I have been riding for 4 and a half years and im 11 so i started when i was around 7.

Find a good riding school near you and go for it!!

In this episode, Eric Bravo demonstrates how to use circling/lunging to forge a connection with the horse that will open the door to effective communication. After showing how to train a young horse using natural horsemanship with circling, he teaches a horse to jump barrels the first time, and then shows what to do when a horse won’t do what you want, when asking a horse to drop his head (which promotes relaxation).
