Plains Horse Archery.mov

March 31st, 2011

©JRH2000-2011
Without the love, prayers, knowledge & support of my family, the buffalo hunts never would have happened. Pilamayapelo! Ate for letting me ride your horse Buffalo Boy, Mas’e Chris for your knowledge and songs, Tanke Nita for your knowledge, strength & compassion, Cinks’i Cetan Okinyan, my eldest son (little guy in orange jacket holding bow & quiver), Tojan Brenna (orange jacket plaid shirt), Emmy, Carrie (twins in pink coats) Tanks’i ZiZi, Jake & Wambli & friends Gervase, Dan, Mike & all who were there. If you wish to learn real Plains Horse Archery, there is no one more qualified in the world to teach you than me.
That is not a brag, it is a fact.
There are some clips in here from the past decade, including a buffalo hunt I did off horseback. The footage is grainy, the sound quality poor because I don’t want others using, marketing or profiting off of it, so this is the best you get.
When you don’t use drugs or abuse alcohol, when you work out, when you gain proficiency in riding and archery, when you study buffalo and learn REAL cultural knowledge, YOU can achieve these things. NO ONE CAN STOP YOU BUT YOU. (Disclaimer: Hunting buffalo especially off horseback should never be taken lightly, if you don’t know what you are doing, there is a good chance you or your horse will get killed. LEARN. And you better have an AWESOME
TIYOS’PAYE (”family group”).

Second riding lesson – learning to rise trot

March 24th, 2011

2 lessons down! Lol :) Today was basically trying to nail the rising trot. Katie put a monkey strap on the front of the saddle so i could have something to support myself with till I got the hang of it, and to leave the horses mouth alone while I figured it out. King was awesome for me, very tolerant for a young horse, let alone an off the tracker!
I think I’m getting there, horse riding is not an easy thing to learn as an adult, let alone a guy!

Tennessee Walking Horse – Show Saturday – Trail Ride on Sunday!.wmv

March 24th, 2011

OH BOY – HERE He comes! Take a look at Purple Passion! He is a beautiful, full-bodied, 14.3h Black Roan with Chrome and carries himself with an air of pride that makes everyone just stop and stare and say “WOW!!” Passion is a top quality TRAIL horse with a way of going that is PERFECT for the SHOW ring as well! Excellent candidate for American Competitive Trail Challenges, Trail Obstacle Classes or Versatility. He would make an excellent Show/Trail mount for a Youth Rider – easy to ride and will definitely get looked at! It’s always fun to actually win some ribbons when you put in all the effort to show – LOL! If you have known me for long, you know that I do not think there are many horses that can excel at BOTH show and trail – if you want to have a successful show-ring competitor, quite often, that is not the same horse that will be your best trail horse…HOWEVER, Purple Passion is the exception! This guy can put you in the Winner’s Circle at the show on Saturday night and enjoy a leisurely family trail ride on Sunday! Purple Passion would be an awesome Versatility Prospect for you or your Youth rider. He has a long striding, True flat walk and head-shaking running walk and he is super, super SMOOOOTH!! He is natural in his gait, sets his head and says “HEY, HEY ~ LOOK-a-Here!!” Watch him move in his video and look at the overstride in the photos – all this is 100 percent natural, wearing only plain Quarter Horse Keg shoes on front and barefoot behind! WOW! Absolutely ANYONE with basic riding skills can ride him – even a timid beginner. He stands to mount and remains still until you ask him to move and walks along at ease on a loose rein, then moves out readily only when asked to do so! His brakes are well installed and he will immediately stop with simple verbal command. Sired by Pusher’s Purple Rain (by The Pusher) and out of a Pusher x Merry Go Boy mare…Registered TWHBEA #974595. I could just go on and on about this incredible gelding – he is possibly the smoothest horse you may ever ride! But looks and amazing gait are not all – He is solid on the trails, willing to go anywhere – whether it’s just a quiet day out with you or in the midst of 200 horses on a major trail event! He is patient and easy to ride – willing to try new adventures, too! This wonderful trail partner carries himself beautifully, walks along at ease and will move out when asked…and when he moves out – OMG…you will think you are floating on a cloud! He is very level-headed, surefooted and easy to handle. At 13 years young, he has had many miles of trail experience with exposure to all types of terrain. He is also traffic broke and would be great for parades, or for drill team…you will certainly not get lost in the crowd on this horse! As with all of our horses, he has been exposed to all types of terrain, barking dogs and other livestock, bicycles, traffic including motorcycles, lawn mowers, tractors, and heavy equipment. He has been ridden both English and Western. Desensitized to hikers, ATV’s, traffic, bikes, ropes, tarps & kids playing! Loads/Unloads/Re-loads and trailers well on any trailer. Ties, clips, grooms, and bathes, stands for the farrier and vet. Stands still to mount and dismount. He is a fantastic all-around horse sure to be a favorite friend to someone soon! Are YOU Ready to RIDE!! Our horses are backed by a Satisfaction Guarantee. Quality, Value, and Honesty are the foundation of our program and the substance of our reputation.
